TPE and ABS filament line on show at MD&M West

TPE and ABS filament line on display at MD&M West

Davis-Standard will exhibit a running hose made of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and a filament line made of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) during this year’s event.

During the first two days the line will show TPE tubing, while the third day of the show will show ABS filament. The line is capable of processing a wide variety of flexible tubing materials at speeds of up to 91 mpm (300 feet per minute).

“This line is an excellent example of a space-saving system that can be used for both medical and industrial tubing. We have many larger lines like this in the field that can reach speeds in excess of 800 feet per minute, ”said Kevin Dipollino, Davis-Standard’s senior product manager, tubing, profile and hose systems. “For the purposes of the show, we would like to demonstrate less floor space and functionality for line speeds up to 300 feet per minute when space is a limiting factor. The line also has a turntable to allow processing at a 90 degree angle and to accommodate additional space constraints such as those encountered in clean room environments. “

The line’s components include a Davis-Standard 2-inch (50mm) Super Blue extruder with our e-TPC-II controls, a Guill spiral crosshead die and tools, a Conair 12-foot multipass vacuum sizing tank, a servo pULLer as well Automatic and transfer coiler and Zumbach OD / ID wall gauge and control system.

The TPE material is supplied by Teknor Apex. Davis-Standard has worked with Guill, Conair and Zumbach for many years to provide customers with complete system solutions. The TPE tubing that will be laid at the fair measures 0.145 inch outside diameter by 0.0108 inch inside diameter and the ABS filament rod has an outside diameter of 1.75 mm. Each line component is designed for tight tolerances, consistent quality and performance efficiency.

Davis-Standard representatives at the show include Kevin Dipollino, Dr. Jason Baird, Tyler McKenna and Glenn Beasley. The company will be present at MD&M West in Anaheim, California, at booth 4024 from February 11-13, 2020.
