Today, FFF 3D printing solutions provider Raise3D, who designs and manufactures AM systems for LSEs and SMBs, unveils its new professional E2CF desktop 3D printer based on its award-winning multipurpose E2 system. Optimized for carbon fiber printing and specially developed for printing with fiber-reinforced materials, the E2CF, which was first introduced at TCT Asia earlier this year, offers what the company calls the “most comprehensive ecosystem in the industry”, to which its RaiseCloud- Print management platform and ideaMaker include slicer software.

“Global efforts to produce more energy efficient devices have fueled a high demand for parts with a high strength-to-weight ratio. Carbon fiber is a good material choice for such parts, but its use in 3D printing was previously considered expensive. With the release of the E2CF, Raise3D closes the gap in the market for a desktop-level 3D printer optimized for fiber-reinforced filaments and finally makes carbon-fiber 3D printing affordable and easy, “said Edward Feng, Global CEO of Raise3D. “We are confident that this is an important step in our mission to lead the promotion and implementation of flexible manufacturing solutions for low-volume or agile manufacturing by removing another barrier to adopting additive manufacturing as an alternative to traditional manufacturing.”

Raise3D’s E2CF 3D printer, weighing in at 32.4 kg, has many of the best features of its predecessor, such as door sensors, IDEX technology, continue printing, a flexible build plate and an energy-saving mode. But that’s not all: to improve first layer adhesion and print performance, the system includes a new assisted automatic bed leveling process for fiber-reinforced filaments, supported by a high-precision optical sensor that provides better accuracy in nozzle height calibration.

Speaking of nozzles: The E2CF has a durable nozzle and feed system, which means that both the nozzles and the extruders have been mechanically and functionally improved for long-term use – over 1,000 printing hours with the Industrial PA12 CF from Raise3D, to be precise.

The printer’s twin gear extrusion system, which consists of hardened components that are optimized for the increased wear and tear of fiber-reinforced filament printing, has twice the gripping force of the E2. Single extruder prints have a build volume of 330 × 240 × 240 mm, which drops to 295 × 240 × 240 mm for double extruder prints. The E2CF’s nozzles and extruders have all been upgraded for a more seamless 3D printing process for composites.

The E2CF also includes two self-contained, sealed material storage dry boxes designed by Raise3D to handle the high water absorption associated with nylon and carbon fiber reinforced filaments. The dry boxes actually attached to the printer itself ensure that the materials can be kept in minimal humidity during the printing process.

In addition to the E2CF printer, Raise3D is also launching its new Industrial PA12 CF and Breakaway Support Filaments, which are specially designed to help users print parts with an excellent finish and hardly any post-processing and which meet the necessary requirements precise, light, and consistently high performance. The PA12 CF, with a tensile strength of 72 MPa and an elastic modulus of 3.3 GPa, would be a good choice for printing industrial end-use parts, fixtures and construction tools.

Raise3D plans to launch its new E2CF 3D printer late in the fourth quarter of this year and will host an online public event to showcase it. The system will also be presented this year at RAPID + TCT and TCT Birmingham in September and formnext in November. While the price is subject to change, it is planned to sell for € 3,999 in Europe and $ 4,499 everywhere else. Presale starts a few weeks before the printer is officially on sale.
