Ahead AM launches Ultrafuse versatile filament portfolio for AM » 3dpbm

With three new filaments – Ultrafuse TPU 64D, Ultrafuse TPU 95A and Ultrafuse TPS 90A – Forward AM is launching a portfolio of advanced flexible materials for AM. These enable the simple, fast and inexpensive production of 3D-printed parts using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF).

With a soft yet durable feel, high mechanical strength and excellent abrasion resistance, the new filaments are ideal for a wide variety of industrial applications that require excellent flexibility and impact resistance. These properties make the Forward AM Ultrafuse Flexible Filament portfolio an excellent choice wherever long-term flexibility and stability of the components is required.

“Flexible materials surround us in our daily life, in automotive and production tools as well as in household appliances and consumer goods. When developing our flexible filament portfolio, we made use of decades of experience that BASF has gathered from inflexible materials such as Elastollan for traditional production. We are now transferring this know-how to AM in order to support our customers in the realization of industrial 3D printing applications of the next level with the best flexible filaments on the market, ”says Roger Sijlbing, Head of Sales and Marketing, Additive Extrusion Solutions at BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH.

With three new filaments - Ultrafuse TPU 64D, TPU 95A and TPS 90A - Forward AM brings a portfolio of materials to the market.

The three new filaments in the portfolio have all been developed for the most demanding industrial applications, with each material offering different specific properties and advantages. Ultrafuse TPU 64D is the hardest elastomer in this material area. It offers high rigidity with excellent flexibility and is perfectly suited for industrial applications that require high-impact parts.

Ultrafuse TPU 95A was developed to enable quick and easy printing on a durable yet flexible polyurethane-based material. Its excellent abrasion resistance makes it the material of choice for wear applications.

Ultrafuse TPS 90A is characterized by an unparalleled soft-touch surface feel, which gives printed parts a non-slip feel and feel – unique in filament printing. With low moisture absorption and convincing layer adhesion, this filament is ideally suited for two-component parts and device handles.

In 2018, Forward AM launched the company’s first flexible materials, Ultrafuse TPU 85A and Ultrafuse TPC 45D. With the introduction of a wider, dedicated portfolio of flexible filaments, Forward AM now offers even more flexible AM ​​materials at affordable prices.

Ultrafuse filaments are specifically designed to work on all popular open source Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) printers from beginner to industrial level, making them one of the easiest and most affordable technologies in AM today. The Ultrafus portfolio includes filaments that range from technical materials, reinforcement and carrier materials to advanced metal filaments for a variety of industrial applications.
